Boys, Move Over… The Lady Is Coming Through.
For those that don’t know yet, Danica Patrick finally drove herself to victory lane. If you don’t know yet, remove yourself out from under the rock you are living under! The sad part, I didn’t get to watch it live. I was planning to watch the race back home Friday night but the rain caused the track to seep water and it was postponed. Danica didn’t even seem that confident during the two hour rain delay. I have to say, she was the reason I completely got into IRL racing to the point I did. I caught her during her 2nd race as a rookie and pretty much have watched every race since. I had drivers I cheered for before that but if they were having a bad day I could cheer for someone else and not feel that bad about it. For some reason, a woman that can be passionate and emotional about something they love draws my attention. I vaguely remember at some point during her career the announcers discussing how good drivers should win sometime in their first 50 starts. Well, last weekend marked Danica’s 50th IRL start and she drove right to victory lane. I really have only seen the last 20 laps or so. I don’t think she dominated but she was tactical enough to save fuel to go from 9th to 1st in the closing laps. Now all the press can stop asking “When is the first win coming?” and let her go back to racing. I have to admit, one of my favorite things over the years is the excitement in the voice of the announcers when she’s doing something historical. First woman to put herself in victory lane in IRL history. The excitement of the announcers reminded me of her rookie year when she broke out to lead the Indianapolis 500… “All is right in the world… Danica Patrick is leading the Indianapolis 500″.

Yeah I spoiled the surprise for you my bad just figured you would have been watching it!!
Lots of crying..lots and lots of crying.
Crying… there is no crying in racing!!!
I was happy to see her win, and let me tell you there was nothing more exciting then being at that Indy Race when she was leading the caution laps with 4 to go! Listening to her Crew chief try and keep her calm during it all! It was an experience I’ll never forget! Way to go Danica!
