Chimaira

It has been pretty boring this spring for concerts.  The announcements haven’t even been that good.  Maybe it is because nothing will really top Slipknot for me.  However there are plenty of festivals coming up… Red, White and Boom, Mayhem Festival and then River Riot.  That is enough bands to make up for the whole year but I did find a small show that should be good.  Chimaira is playing Sokol.  A lot of you may not know who Chimaira is and I was introduced to them the night of the Manson show on the way to the venue.  Hard, hard rock in a small venue is sure to be a blast.  Take a listen to them on YouTube.

Being on call this week has been interesting.  I’m not sure I can call it enjoyable but I’m on track to make an extra $200 for about 2-3 hours of work this week.  It is hard to figure out what you’ll make during the week because you’re paid for carrying the phone for a fixed amount of hours which is only a few bucks an hour but you get 15 minutes per call.  Keep in mind, the average call is about 5 minutes so it works out well.  If you get no calls all week, then you’re stuck close to a computer all week for no reason with little payout which isn’t much fun.  I wanted to head out fishing one night and decided not to because I got a call at 9:30 that night.  Granted I can get internet anywhere I can get a cell signal but it would be a pain trying to get all setup for a quick fix.  I’m not really sure how this is going to effect my weekend this weekend yet.  I’ll probably lay low so hopefully I get a lot of calls.  Corey could use a new 46″  HD LCD.

In my 12 years in Lincoln, I’ve never seen a storm that I’d call really bad.  The surrounding areas seem to get drilled all the time.  I think time some one told me Lincoln is kind of in a valley which helps break up the storms, not sure if that is true or not.  Back home I lived through the “Night of the Twisters” and remember many occasions being able to step out and see tornadoes when the weather was bad.   All though we have tons of damage in Lincoln this year, already surpassing last years damage totals, I just never feel like a bad storm comes through.  Last night would have been a great night to take pictures of lighting.  It was dancing from cloud to cloud constantly, but I had no tripod close by so I guess I’ll have to wait for our next big storm.  Based on the clouds tonight, that may be tonight but I’ll guessing I’ll be sitting at Old Chicago tonight… Coors Light pint night!
