That’s a lot of Water!

My on call week is officially over. I have to say, it wasn’t too bad. It is more of a hassle than anything. If I want to leave the house for any reason I have to grab the laptop and put mobile card in and head out the door… hoping not to be gone too long cause I have no clue how long the battery lasts in sleep mode and I know it’s about an hour when I actually have it turned on. Luckily I have an extra charger so if I’m going some place with 120 volts I’m good. The extra $250 for the week will make it well worth it I suppose but I have to wait for that paycheck. Now that I’m officially to the point where I’m credit card debt free and I have no more unexpected bills to pay and only the normal bills, life is getting back to normal. I’ll actually be making money for a change instead of catching up. If I could just find a house on the right side of town now, everything would be much, much better. Sadly, I found an amazing house that I really liked it is just in the wrong area and the other houses in the neighborhood are sort of hit and miss. I think if you picked that house up from southwest Lincoln and dropped it in southeast Lincoln it would sell for about $20,000 more. The drive to and from work is about 18 minutes and my gas consumption is going to go up significantly, not to mention it’s at least 15 minutes to get to any place worth going to. I actually got to the point where I was looking at town homes that were for sale last night.

So the Friday camp fire and fishing night didn’t go quite as planned. It was a perfect night but apparently all this wonderful weather is taking a toll on the surrounding areas. Without ever being at Stagecoach it would be hard to explain the condition the lake was in. There is usually 5 entrances to get to the lake and really only one of them was usable because the water was so high. I’m pretty sure the water was about 30 yards higher on the bank than it normal was. The entire dam area was under water to the point we couldn’t even drive out to the lake. The fence across the road was almost completely under water. We had to wade through water to get by the boat ramp which was completely under water. Actually, the 5 MPH sign by the boat ramp was almost all the way under water. The entrance we usually use on the south side was completely under water at the entrance to the park. Keep in mind, where we fish a lot of times there is a small trek down to the water and a graveyard to the left. It has to be at least a 10 foot drop from the road to the shore and we couldn’t even get close to the road. The graveyard had to be completely underwater, tombstones and all. Actually we started to try to drive back there and we were not even a car length in and the water was already up to the fog lights and running boards on the truck. It was slightly amusing crossing the road by the inlet, which was under water, and seeing decent sized fish flapping around across the street in a foot of water. I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen a lake so flooded before, it was insane. Oh, and the fishing wasn’t good either but I think when we casted out, we were still over the grass that is usually the shore.
