Busy Busy

Sick, Busy, Sick… I haven’t had much time lately. With a swollen face, gimpy leg, and horrible sinus infection, I haven’t had much motivation to get anything posted. Plus, I’m in shopping mode… new TV and furniture for the basement. I don’t understand why I can never find the perfect furniture. Trying to find a TV stand that will work is impossible without some sort of audio rack too. The center channel obviously can not go on top of the TV. I love my audio equipment but my center channel is bigger than most people’s entire speaker package (which makes things difficult)… but there’s a reason it sounds so good. And then finding couches has been a chore too. Not sure what color or if something is too light or too dark. I’m not good at making decisions and I get too many peoples input then 2nd guess everything. At least I got the TV picked out, but only because it is a killer deal.

Closing is Wednesday and everything is done except handing over the big fat check and the final walk through which is Tuesday night. I’m supposed to be moving boxes today to make moving easier but it’s kind of a pain to get motivated to move again. Most things are boxed up already so it doesn’t feel like I’m accomplishing much, just moving things that are going to get moved again. I’m sort avoiding the garage at this point.

Last night I headed down to Rib Fest. It was nice out this year for a change for it instead of blistering hot. I’ve been going to Rib Fest for many, many years now and I tend to be more and more disappointed by it. I think maybe when you can cook the foods you’re eating, and you think your food tastes better, spending $18 for dinner plus buying beer just seems like a waste. Granted, the food is good and it is nice to get ribs cooked by people that know what ribs are supposed to be cooked like. Meat falling off the bones = over cooked. That is the way people like they’re ribs usually, but that doesn’t make it right.

I’ve been trying to figure out why it is human nature to not take your eyes off the train wreck that is about to happen. The bus is sitting stalled on the tracks and the train is barreling down the track and we can not turn away. This holds true too many things. You realize at some point the harsh reality is going to set in and you sit and wait patiently for it to happen. This may because of my ability to usually read people and they’re actions well, but you’d think I’d be able to look away in some cases. Instead, I wait for the carnage.
