I’m forcing myself on you… because you’re lazy.
No worries, I’m lazy too. This whole blogging/social networks thing has been an interesting battle. I set up this personal blog site because in the past I’ve always used Content Management Systems for websites, even when the main concept was to use the site as a blog. I decided my personal site didn’t need all the extra baggage and I wanted to see what can be done with something actually designed for the blooger. I have to say, WordPress is pretty cool and it does a lot and it is easy to work with. The catch is, my public blog is just that, public. On Facebook and MySpace I can worry less about what is posted because they are more private networks, to an extent. I never wanted to use either system for blogging or replace my personal site by relying on either network. I have the ability to run my own website and I choose to so I can learn and do what I want with it (not everyone has that ability). The problem… how do I post info to 3 places without posting it 3 times. I don’t want people commenting on blog posts at 3 different locations because that is just silly. So originally I was posting links in MySpace from blog posts… that got old. So I relied on RSS (something more people should know about) and put widgets on both MySpace and Facebook so people could see when new posts were made. Problem, you had to go to my profile to see this and it couldn’t show up in status updates (see, you’re lazy). I realize people don’t just go check out other people’s profiles because I don’t do it often. The easiest thing to do would be expect people to take 5 seconds to visit my personal site but really… that doesn’t happen either. So, I’m trying something new. I added the Bookmark/Share button to my posts and I should easily be able to press the button and post to Facebook’s Wall and MySpace’s blog with ease. Obviously I haven’t tried it yet… so it may require some tweaking but I’ll get it working eventually. Now if I could figure out a way to get my thoughts on the blog without sitting down to type!
I’m loving the weather! I don’t mind summer but I do get tired of the heat sometimes. It prevents you from doing and enjoying some of the outdoor activities during the summer. I’d love to be able to go out and ride the bike before winter but I’m still pretty busy at home. That and I feel terribly out of shape. It is time to start working out again since it is getting cold outside. I’ve decided I want to get rid of the NordicTrack skier though and buy an elliptical, the problem is money. I’m not much of a “gym” person so I rather just buy something for home. I wouldn’t mind picking up a used one but I guess I need to find one first. If anyone has any bright ideas, let me know. Obviously I want it to be in pretty good shape and still affordable.
This weekend I’m planning to lock myself to the house and force myself to get done with the donation boxes and get the entertainment center on craigslist. That means working on the garage too so I can park in the garage every night instead of having a project in the way. Unpacking is such a slow process but I think it’s been successful. I’ve gotten alot of stuff marked to be donated, I’m getting rid of the entertainment center that has been moved too many times, I’ve gotten rid of all the packing boxes. I actually don’t think I’ll have to resort to using an entire room for storage. I may have no closet space left but that’s not so bad. I can always go more cleaning and organizing when the ground is frozen and covered with snow.

It must have worked, cuz I saw it on Facebook and thought – oh yea, I have this long lost friend named Corey who used to post blogs on his website…I should check that out…
