Stupid People and Quick Updates

It has been awhile and a lot has gone on but I haven’t found time to post anything, so I figured I was due. Cece and I made a trip to Omaha to see Flannigan’s Right Hook again. They came up from Kansas City for someone’s birthday and they were playing at a bar so I decided we’d make an appearance. I am patiently awaiting their CD in the mail. It was a good time and they informed us they would be playing at the Dubliner in Omaha on August 7th and 8th. There are a lot of concerts coming up in August; Green Day, Rockfest, River Riot, Flyleaf, and Saving Abel with Hurt. Sadly I think I will be missing most of them because I’m on call one weekend and we’re going to Minnesota the other weekend. Work has been pretty busy… 53 hours last week but I was on call. I’ve gotten a lot of windshield time in the last few weeks which has been nice. I am kind of enjoying this cooler, rainy weather too. Okay, honestly, I am enjoying not having to water the yard and plants but it was pretty warm today. If I was out on the bike or fishing the weather would be really annoying. I know beers on the deck would have been great after work today but I had errands to run. It looks like I am heading to Grand Island this weekend, it has been awhile, and probably camping in South Dakota in Omaha over Cece’s birthday weekend in July. That seems like a pretty tame schedule for the next six weeks but I suppose that is a good thing. The only other big news I really have is the death of my iPod. Granted, not big news to most people but when you have gotten used to using an iPod five or six days a week for the last four years, not having one is really annoying. Oh, and I have been working on the website gallery behind the scenes to get it ready for photos. My last gallery had 9,000+ photos between two cameras before I took it down and my current camera is now over 12,000 photos on its own. I decided to put a lot of time into testing before uploading anything really to make sure I had a process to get the results I wanted. I think I finally have gotten to the point where I am ready for images but this time I am trying to limit the gallery to just my favorites and actually doing post-processing before posting anything. There should be more photos added over the next weeks/months. I also added the archive page to the site recently, on the top. Sadly I am thinking something changed to cause the pages to not render correctly on Internet Explorer and the Lightbox being broke for thumbnails in blog posts, which I guess I will work on sometime soon. So I have been working… just not on posts. =)

So, I am wondering if a personal blog, available to the public, is a good place to bring up topics that annoy you. Speaking negatively of things probably makes a person look bad but it is so easy to discuss the things you have opinions about even if they are negarive. There have been many topics over the last month I would love to voice my opinion on, but have decided not to. The people that blow through yellow lights (well, mostly red lights but they think they are okay because their bumper was in the intersection before the light turn red) and Lincoln’s continuing discussing of a new event center that has been going on for years with no results are both prime example. I haven’t decided if a blog is the best place for these topics but it seems I have few outlets to discuss these things so I haven’t decided if it acceptable. Since we are on the topic though, lets discuss people. I have wondered if owning your own business or working alone removes the common problem of “stupid people.” Everyone has worked and everyone knows you come across all sorts of people in the work place (especially when your support rep turnover rate is lower than the shelf life of milk). It seems there are all sorts of people in the world you run in to… the person that is always right, the person that still acts like a middle school kid, the person that does things their way because they can not accept other people’s way, the person that does everything half-ass, the person that goes and cries to the supervisor/manager to get their way, the person that hides behind emails, and the person that apparently can’t use the bathroom correctly. The list can go on forever and what is even worse is, typically if a person has one of these traits they usually have many of these traits. I don’t know, maybe I am getting too old for dealing with stupid people because really just don’t tolerate these people well. I go to work to do my job and these people just get in the way. It really is kind of sad but every time you turn around, there is one standing right there. I suppose the concept of “if you want it done right and to your standards, do it yourself” has just stuck with me after all these years. Apparently I picked that up from my parents when I was growing up.

tundra_slipknot_09To end on a positive note… I have missed a few races in the last month because I was sick or busy. I haven’t had a chance to work on any videos but had some exciting races (top 5s both times I did race). Since I don’t have a video to post, I thought I would post the rendered version of my current paint scheme I am running. This is actually a scheme I did in 2007 for a Chevy and converted it to the Toyota for my new league. This is rendered in 3D Studio Max of what my truck looks like in the game. I do all my own paint schemes for online racing and I am hoping to add some of my older work to the gallery at a later date. Until next time, enjoy the sunny weather!
